Slip away for a relaxing island vacation in the privacy and tranquility of a
historic victorian cottage conviently located in the midst of beautiful and
diverse Galveston. Experience historic Galveston Island in the comfort of this
one of a kind, Queen Anne villa located in the heart of unique East End
historical district. Galveston's Historical District entails one of the largest,
well preserved concentrations of Victorian architecture in the country.
Built by German craftsmen in 1895, the home withstood the devastation of the 1900
category 5 hurricane and the castostrophic storm surge that followed. The home
also escaped the recent destruction of Hurricane Ike. Upon entering, you are
greeted by a handsome double grand foyer with an 8 foot arched stained glass
window. The house comes well appointed with eleven foot ceilings, original wood
fireplaces, handcarved ornamental staircase, intricate moldings, casework and
gingerbread transoms, all painstakingly restored to their original pristine
condition. The first floor has a formal living room, a formal dining room with
mahogany stained long leaf pine wainscoting, breakfast nook and family room
perfect for large or small family gatherings. The newly remodled kitchen is
fully equipped to provide all the luxuries and conviences of your own home. A
large nine foot granite island provides additional bar style seating. There are
four cozy bedrooms on the second floor which will accommodate eight people
comfortably. Additional sleeping lofts and reading alcoves can be utilized as
well. The bathrooms have been completely renovated providing modern amenites and
fixtures. A refreshing in-ground pool is available right from the comfort and
privacy of the secluded back yard. |
